Toma is one of the most famous Italian cheeses. It is produced primarily in Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont regions of Northern Italy from cow's milk from at least two consecutive milkings. Famous as the region's specialties, this soft or semi-hard cheese is made from Italian cow's milk.
Closely related to the French tomme, Toma is rich, buttery and intense. Toma Piemontese variety has PDO status (Protected Designation of Origin) under EU regulation.
